The watercolors are based on water lily pond studies. They show how different levels overlap; the reflection of the sky is overlaid by the reflection of the surrounding pines, water lily pads slide in, what happens underneath the surface only becomes visible when the eyes focus differently. What is solid? What is fleeting? What is above? What is below?
The subject does not vary, but the meaning does.
