Dust

2026

Installation in public space, St. Konrad, Wandlitz

On the outdoor altar and four black hand-blown Goeth glasses (Lamberts Glassworks), there is very finely sifted sand in various shapes

Four black glass panes lie flat on the floor. Together with the outdoor altar, they form the frame and the setting for the work. The black panes reflect parts of the sky and the church.

There is earth on each glass pane: on one in the form of a pile, on another in the form of a patch, on a third in the form of a handful of scattered dust, and on the fourth and on the outdoor altar in the form of balls (also known as Dorodangos, the Japanese art of making mud balls).

The floor serves simultaneously as a venue for the presentation and a resource for the production of the work. Glass is made from sand. Together, they present fascinating material contrasts.
